Daffodil Days

Daffodils and daisies, favorite among all wild flowers
Dead autumn leaves, yet so alive in splendid colors.

Clouds always hovering, thick, gloomy and grey
Rain, stop! Im bored. I want to go out and play.

The ice-cream man! Quick! Jump across the fence
Run across the street, it costs just twelve and a half pence.

Wandering about on the verdant fields a tiny little pony
Here are two sugar cubes for you, Ill ride you when its a bit more sunny

A long trip taken on the train to spend a holiday
On a beach quite far off from home called Whitley Bay

Stolen goodies, much too tasty are the neighbors blackberries
Innocence written all over my face, hence rewarded with succulent cherries

On the playground at school trying to catch a stray frog
Or peering into the bushes by the side to have a glimpse of the sleeping hedgehog

A great big tree the little girl looked up to with small green apples laden
Too high to pluck them, searching on the ground for those not rotten

Summers always awaited, for the suns warmth and days so bright
Out in the playgrounds like a skylark almost ready for flight

Long lost playmates, Mark, Oliver, Jane, and Helen
A part of a wonderful life, those schooldays spent in Britain.
