My Paper Heart

A young girl, confused and lost,
not knowing what to do with her life.
That is what I was before I met you.
Though I am still confused and lost,
I know that all my life all I will do is love you.
As I write a letter, saying I will always love you,
I say everything that is in my heart.
When I give it to you, I am really giving you my heart,
and it will never belong to anyone else.
I hope that you will not break it anymore,
and that you will treasure it.

I gave you my heart and now you must be careful with it.
It is as delicate as paper.
Every time you stab it with pain,
it bleeds even more.
Not blood but words as though written on paper.
Words of sorrow, words of pain. Words of hope that we can someday be together.

Now as I lay in my bed at night,
I wonder what you have done with my paper heart.
Will you put it in a drawer and forget about it?
It may get dusty but my love for you will never die.
You might give your heart to another girl, but I will just keep waiting.
My heart is already burning with an undying passion,
But if you burn my paper heart,
it will burn with pain until it is nothing but ash.
If you rip it to pieces and scatter them,
I will just leave the pieces lying there.
I will never give my heart to someone else.
If you throw it into the ocean, it will sink to the bottom and be forgotten.
My heart is drowning in sorrow and soon it will stop beating.

I gave you my heart and now you must be careful with it.
It is as delicate as paper.
Every time you stab it with pain,
It bleeds even more.
Not blood but words as though written on paper.
Words of sorrow, words of pain. Words of hope that we can someday be together.
