Two paper hearts

Exchanging paper hearts
taking it for love
we never really thought where we were going
why would we care?
we enjoyed every minute of it.

Roaming throughout the streets
with carefree written all over our faces
this was what we wanted, we thought
and went on with it.

But the candle flame grew larger and larger
and our paper hearts started to have a spark.
We thought this spark was going to lead on to something else.

It did.

But when you told me you loved me
when you told me you missed me
am I supposed to be happy?
When you told me you would die for me
am i supposed to be happy?

I don't know.

The spark fused
both the paper hearts together
forever entwined
yet forever scarred.

Where this is going to lead
I do not know.
